Aims of IBARD

First and foremost, the aims are to promote Banjo in all it's incarnations. 4,5,6,or12 strings. Long or short necks. Akonting, or other African banjo relatives,banjo-lele, cello banjo, gourd, grain measure, cookie-tin or up to the moment space-age design. All types and styles of music played in all known or heretofore unknown styles.
Second, to encourage the public expression of Banjo by hosting or attending banjo gatherins and events on OUR VERY OWN HOLLIDAY, IBARD. Such events could be public or by invitation,. We understand that not all of us have the space for all the celebrants who might choose to attend. Inclusion of players of other instruments are left to the discretion of the organizer. It's your event, you make the call.
A few remarks might be in order, if a suitable speaker attends, but the main thing is to get together and play some banjo. It would be hoped that at least one banjo player will attend each event.
Send me word of your intended event, and if you wish it to be posted here, it will be.

IBARD

Greetings, Y'all. Paul on this end. You are looking at the home of International Banjo Appreciation and Recognition Day. SAAALUTE! This all started on the Banjo Hangout several months ago. It was suggested, discussed and decided that a day should be set aside for such a noble undertaking, and it appeared that the various governments had dropped the ball. Later, I'll post the Original Proclamation on here, and see if a dog catcher or other government official can be found to endorse our Day Of Celebration. The day chosen is the 3rd Saturday of June, each year, commencing with the First Official IBARD on June 20,2009.
